Artists have to register by noon on Tuesday 9 July 2019 and have paid the £20 entry fee.
The Old Station Buildings, Longridge will serve as the event hub for the painting day. Artists should report to The Old Station Buildings before commencing work. Each canvas, paper or board will be stamped at the start to ensure it is blank. Primed surfaces are acceptable. Unstamped work is ineligible for prizes and/or exhibition.
Any media or creative style is acceptable with the sole exception of photography.
The maximum size of artwork (including the frame) is 1.0 metre x 1.2 metres.
The finished pieces do not need to be framed but framed work is acceptable.
Finished work should be returned to the Longridge Conservative Club, Berry Lane by 6pm on Saturday 13 July 2019 for judging and the award of prizes. Artists can only submit one piece of work for judging and subsequent exhibition. 1st prize is £2,000; 2nd prize is £1,000; 3rd prize is £500. The judges’ decision is final. The sponsors of the 3 prizes will be awarded that piece of artwork for their sponsorship. Prize money will be paid to the winning artists within 10 days of the event. No deductions will be made from the prizes. In addition, visitors to the exhibition will be invited to vote for their favourite artwork. A special visitors’ prize will be awarded after the exhibition.
All work will then be exhibited for sale at Longridge Gallery and potentially other venues for 1 week commencing Sunday 14 July 2019 (except of course the 3 prize winning artworks which will be exhibited but not sold). The retail price of each work will be agreed between the artist and Create Longridge. The artist will retain 50% of the agreed selling price. All artists hereby agree to the exhibition and sale of their finished work in this way.
Any work which is unsold by Saturday 20 July 2019 will then be stored by Longridge Gallery for collection until Saturday 27 July 2019. After that date all work will be donated to charity as no storage facilities are available. It is the artists’ responsibility to collect the work; unfortunately there is no shipping facility available.
Artists are personally responsible for their work and arranging their own art transit to the Old Station Buildings and Conservative Club as appropriate and personal liability insurance throughout the competition and exhibition period.
All participants must accept being filmed and photographed by all Create Longridge’s media partners and the organisers throughout the event. Images and reproductions of both the artist and their work may be used for the reporting of the 2019 event and the promotion of future events across all media, in particular the Create Longridge website.
All participants agree to images of their completed works being used in the production of event merchandise, in whatever form. All artists accept that no fee will be paid for this use. All profits from the sale of merchandise will be retained by Create Longridge for funding of future events.
