On The Day
The Old Station Buildings on Berry Lane will act as the hub for Create Longridge day.
Artists will be registering from 8am at The Old Station Buildings. When they have their canvasses verified as being blank at the start, we will also be mapping each artist’s painting location so visitors to Create Longridge can plan a route taking in as many artists as they want. Maps will be available for visitors to take away. Each artist will have a blue balloon to tie to their easels, so if you don’t have a map, watch out for the balloons!
The textile fringe event will start at 10am at Fitness Plus Gym’s Studio space on Kestor Lane. This year’s event is for children but adults are welcome to drop in and participate. Full details are available from Cath Reid at Oh Sew Crafty on Berry Lane.
St Wilfrid’s RC Primary school is hosting a number of events on the day. There will be willow sculpting for children aged 9 - 13 years and art classes with the theme “The Buildings of Longridge” for 5 – 9 year olds. Registration is available from Longridge Gallery and there are morning and afternoon sessions.

At Longridge Library there is a morning drop-in session from 10am – noon for pre-school children. Here they can create their favourite storybook characters, which will be linked to story-time run by the librarians. No registration is required for this lively session of words and pictures.
At Future Sound Music’s brand new studios on Warwick Street a competition will be held for visitors to depict their music heroes. All the work will be collated into a mural to hang in the new studios. The creator of the winning picture will receive a free Fender guitar and 6 months of free lessons. How good is that!! There will be live music throughout the day at Future Sound.
Artists have the opportunity to paint until 6pm although they are able to submit finished work from 4pm. Completed paintings will be returned to the Conservative Club on Berry Lane. Judging will start at 6:15pm. The announcement of the winning painting will be made on Create Longridge day in the Conservative Club between 7:30pm and 8pm. Artists and visitors are welcome to congregate in the bar there awaiting the announcement of the winner.
An exhibition and sale of all the paintings created on the day will start on Sunday 16th July from noon – 3:30pm at Longridge Gallery, 78 Berry Lane and potentially other venues depending on the overall number of entries. The exhibition runs for a week thereafter.
